Mathias Kretsch,
Sr., 89, died Saturday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Bushman, of
1105 Flambeau street, following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held
at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Pfeffer funeral home, the Rev. Paul Blaufuss
officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. Kretsch was born in this
county in 1858 and 64 years ago married Miss Catherine Schwalenberg, who died
two years ago. He was a mason contractor for more than 50 years, retiring 21
years ago.
Survivors are six daughters, Mrs. Bushmann and Mrs. Joseph Lenz of
this city, Mrs. Andrew Diels of Plymouth, Mrs. Philip Maurer of route 1, Kiel,
Mrs. Arthur Melhorn of Arizona and Mrs. Robert Kieckhaefer of the state of
Washington; four sons, Frank of route 2, Kiel, Mathias Jr., of Oregon, Hubert of
this city and Daniel of route 1, Manitowoc; 33 grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home until the hour
of services.
