Robert J. Kretsch, age 74, a Manitowoc resident, died Monday evening May
17, 1999, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Bonnie.
Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 21, 1999, at the
Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church,
Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev.
Gerald Foley, with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc,
Military Graveside Rites will be accorded by V.F.W. Otto Oas Post #659.
He was born May 1, 1925, in Manitowoc, son of the late Hubert and
Gertrude Mallman Kretsch. Robert was a veteran of the United States
Coast Guard serving during World War II as a radio operator overseas in
the Southwest Pacific. On September 25, 1946, he married the former
Armella A. Tyson at St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. She preceded
him in death May 31, 1979. In 1971, Bob attended school at Altoona, Pa.,
where he received formal training and earned a Reactor Operator license.
Bob was employed with the Wisconsin Public Service and retired from the
Kewaunee Nuclear Plant in 1987. He was an associate member of the
Professional Reactor Operation Society.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Bonnie
Kretsch, Whitelaw, Jay and Cathy Kretsch, Ontario, Canada; one daughter
and son-in-law, Heidi and Christian Wagner, West Bend; six
grandchildren, Chase Kretsch and his wife Tami, Heather Kretsch, Matthew
Kretsch, Caroline Kretsch, Jennifer Wagner and Bailey Wagner, one
great-grandson, Hunter John Kretsch; two brothers and one sister-in-law,
Hubert J. Kretsch, Manitowoc, William and Betty Kretsch, Manitowoc. Also
surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Pfeffer Funeral
Home, Manitowoc from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.
