Conrad E. Kruck, 70, (photo) of 1209 New York avenue, who retired a year
ago last February after being employed for 39 years at the Manitowoc Ship
Building company, died in his sleep early today at his home.
Mr. Kruck suffered a stroke some time ago but was able to be about. He was
out of the yard at his home Monday.
Funeral plans are incomplete, awaiting word from a son, Edward, in Canada.
Mr. Kruck was born in this city in 1875 and in 1894 married Miss Henrietta
Balk, in New Orleans. They made their home in that city for 10 years Mr.
Kruck being employed in railroad work there. Then they came to Manitowoc,
and Mr. Kruck took employment at the ship yards. He retired in February,
1944.
Survivors are his wife; five sons, Roy and Ernie of this city, Clifton of
Fond du Lac, Edward of Toronto, Canada, Raymond with a medical unit of the
U.S. army in France; brother Ernest of Fond du Lac; sister, Mrs. Bertha
Wood of Prospect Park, Pa.; and five grandsons.

Funeral services for Conrad E. Kruck, 70, of 1209 New York avenue, who died
early yesterday at his home, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Wattawa,
Urbanek and Schlei funeral home. The Rev. F. N. Oklevik of the First Lutheran
church will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
The body may be viewed after 6 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

IS STRUCK WITH A SLEDGE
C. Kruck had the misfortune of getting his arm hurt by a fellow workman
sticking it with a sledge while in the act of calking seams on the
Steamer Alva. He will be unable to work for a few days.
