NICHOLAS J. KUHL (d. 1951)

Nicholas J. Kuhl, 83, of 840 Lincoln Blvd, Manitowoc, died early Wednesday
morning at Holy Family Hospital, following a short illness.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Pfeffer Funeral
Home and at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. L.M.
Schorn will officiate with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Kuhl was born in 1868 in Manitowoc, the son of Michael Kuhl, pioneer harness
maker in Manitowoc. He learned the harness trade from his father, and in 1912,
opened a shoe store on Quay Street in Manitowoc, which he operated since.
In 1894, he married Margaret Hagarty. She died in 1945. Survivors are two sons,
Charles M. and Carter W., of Manitowoc; two sisters, Mrs. Ida McCommas and Mrs.
Frances Mitchell of Los Angles, Calif., seven grandchildren and four great
grandchildren. A daughter, Adelle of Manitowoc, died four weeks ago.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday and the rosary will be
recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Mr. Kuhl was a member of the Manitowoc Lodge of Elks.

Mr. Kuhl, a shoe merchant, operated a store on Quay St., until the time of his
death, and also operated a shoe store on North Eighth St., before it was taken
over by a son, Charles, 20 years ago.
