Lydia C. Kumbalek, 98, of Manitowoc, peacefully went to her eternal rest on
Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at Shady Lane Nursing Home, where she resided for
the past six years.
She was born the daughter of John and Wilhelmina (Herwig) Eichorst on June 16,
1904, in Brillion. Lydia married Norbert Kumbalek on Nov. 28, 1929, in Appleton.
She was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of Manitowoc and a
member of the Ladies Aid Society.
Lydia is sadly missed by three sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Mary Ann
of Sun Prairie, and Richard and Ellen, and John and Carol, all of Manitowoc;
two daughters and sons-in-law, Lois and Steve Loveless of Mishicot, Shirley
Brunette of Fond du Lac and Dale Reinemann of Pickerel; 15 grandchildren; 22
great-grandchildren; one brother, John Eichorst of Oshkosh; one sister-in-law,
Violet Kumbalek of Manitowoc; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and
friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992, a daughter, Janice Reinemann,
in 1984; a son-in-law, Jerome Brunette Jr., in 1998; two infant great-grandsons,
six sisters and one brother.
Services: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at
Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 916 Pine St., Manitowoc. Pastors Dennis
Broehm and Loren Lindemann will officiate. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery,
Manitowoc.
Visitation: Family and friends may call from 9 a.m. to the time of service on
Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 916 Pine St.,
Manitowoc.
The family expresses its deep appreciation to the entire staff of Shady Lane
Nursing Home for their compassionate care of Lydia. In lieu of flowers, the
family requests memorials be directed to Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church
and Shady Lane Nursing Home. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is serving the family.
