JOSEPH LAKATOS SR.

Joseph S. Lakatos, Sr., 65, of Rt. 2, Manitowoc, died Wednesday morning at
Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage several
weeks ago.
Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Friday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home,
Manitowoc, and at 9 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church. The Rev. E. A. Radey
will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Graveside
military rites will be conducted by American Legion Drews-Bleser Post, Manitowoc.
Mr. Lakatos was born Nov. 13, 1893, at Manitowoc, son of the late Michael and
Mary Shuber Lakatos. He attended Catholic School at Kellnersville and McAllister
School at Four Corners. He married the former Clara Stradel Oct. 26, 1919, at
Francis Creek. The couple located at Manitowoc and year later operated a cheese
factory on River Road. They took over the homestead farm 33 years ago. Mr. Lakatos
was a member of the McAllister School board for 15 years and was Fire Chief of the
Volunteer Fire Dept. at Branch for 20 years. A corporal in Co. H, 340th Infantry
during World War I, he served in France from May 26, 1918 until April 24, 1919.
He was a member of the American Legion and of the Holy Name Society.
Survivors include the wife, two sons, Joseph Jr. and Melvin of Manitowoc; three
daughters, Mrs. Ted Blashka of Rt. 2, Manitowoc; Mrs. Daniel Reidy of Milwaukee
and Mrs. LeRoy Zipperer of Manitowoc; two sisters, Mrs. Walter Rohrer of Manitowoc
and Miss Tillie Lakatos of Rt. 4, Manitowoc, and nine grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Thursday where the Rosary will
be recited at 7:30 p.m.
