JOHN J. LANG (d. 1945)
Auto Injuries Fatal To Youth; Warrant out For Tavernkeeper
John (Jack) Lang, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Lang, 811 North 20th street, died at the Holy Family hospital last evening of injuries he received in an automobile accident Sunday night on county trunk U, one mile south of Silver Creek. As an aftermath of the accident, resulting in Lang's death, Dist. Atty. John Danielson issued a warrant this morning charging Irene Lesperance, operator of the Dutch Mill tavern on Memorial drive, with twelve counts of selling liquor and beer to minors. County Traffic Officers Henry Pleuss and Edward McConnell said that Lang was driving south on county trunk U before the accident, and lost control of the car on the gravel road. The car rolled over twice and came to rest against a power pole along the road. Lang sustained a skull fracture and dislocated neck in the crash as well as numerous body bruises and cuts. His condition was described as poor Tuesday and not much hope had been held for his recovery.

He was born in Manitowoc in 1928 and attended Holy Innocents parochial school. He later attended Woodrow Wilson Junior high school, and for the past six months, he had been employed at the Eastman Manufacturing company here.

He is survived by his parents; two brothers, Dennis, 6, at home, and M.Mo. 3/c Donald, in the navy in the Pacific; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Jagemann, Sr., and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Lang, all of Manitowoc.

Funeral Services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Pfeffer funeral home and at 9 a.m. at Holy Innocents church. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Friday. The body will lie in state from Friday morning until time of services.
