H.A. LEHMKUHL DIES AT 81 IN HOSPITAL HERE
Stricken Monday Night With Heart Attack; Burial To Be On Saturday
Henry A Lehmkuhl, 81, pioneer Newton and Manitowoc resident, died at Holy
Family hospital last night after a brief illness.
He was stricken with a heart attack at his residence at 1516 South Tenth
street Monday night.
Three years ago Mr. and Mrs. Lehmkuhl celebrated their golden wedding
anniversary.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. from the home on South
Tenth street and at 2 p.m. from the Wesley M.E. church of which Mr.
Lehmkuhl was a member. Interment will be at Evergreen.
Born in this city in 1852, Mr. Lehmkuhl resided here until he took up
farming as a young man. He operated a farm in the town of Newton until
he was 50 years of age when he returned to this city. For over 15 years
he was employed by the Buerstatte Electric company after which he retired
to private life.
Fifty three years ago he was married at the Newton Methodist church to Miss
Bertha Eberhardt.
Four Daughters
Survivors are his widow, four daughters, Mrs. Charles Jacob, Mrs. Elmer
Schroeter, and Mrs. Lillian Jandre, all of this city, Mrs. Arthur Risch,
Rockwood, and a son Charles of Los Angeles, Calif. The deceased was the
last member of the Lehmkuhl family. His brother J. G. Lehmkuhl died in
March and a sister, Mrs. E. M. Carstens in September.
There are 16 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
