QUIRIN C. LENSMIRE

Quirin C. Lensmire, age 86, of 1843 Fairmont St., Manitowoc, died
Wednesday, November 22, 1995.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 24, 1995,
at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the
Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Gerald Foley with burial at
Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Quirin was born on December 4, 1908, in the town of Franklin,
Manitowoc County. He is the son of the late Mathias and Katherine
Tienor Lensmire. On June 21, 1939, Quirin married Thelma D. Bauer
at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc.
Quirin graduated from Reedsville High School and then attended
Manitowoc County Normal School. He continued his studies at Oshkosh
State Teachers College where he graduated with honors, receiving his
Bachelor Science degree in Elementary Education.
Quirin taught school for 47 years. He began his teaching career in a
one room school in Marathon County. For the next 13 years, he taught
at Hillside School. Then Quirin became the Principal and upper grade
teacher at Manitowoc Rapids State Grade School for 12 years. In 1954,
he accepted a teaching position at Washington Junior High School in
Manitowoc, where he taught Citizenship for 20 years until his
retirement in 1973.
Upon his retirement from teaching, Quirin was encouraged to make his
part-time job as a cheese grader at the Northern Wisconsin Produce
Company, a full-time position. He enjoyed working at the Northern
Produce for the next ten years.
Quirin is a past president of the Manitowoc County Teachers Association
and a member of the former Holy Name Society of Holy Innocents Catholic
Church.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Lensmire, Manitowoc; one daughter
and son-in-law, Jane and Douglas Fencl, Two Rivers; one son and daughter-
in-law, Ronald and Ann Lensmire, Manitowoc; two grandchildren, Lori and
Carrie Fencl; one brother, Daniel Lensmire, Taus; two sisters-in-law,
Emily Lensmire, Luxemburg, Pauline Lensmire, Plymouth. Also surviving
are many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Quirin was
preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.
Quirin loved gardening, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren,
family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Holy Innocents Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m.
Friday, November 24, 1995, until the time of service at 11 a.m. There will
be no Thursday evening visitation.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral
arrangements.
