CHARLES LEVERENZ (d. 1913)

CARL LEVERENZ PIONEER, IS DEAD
Carl Levereenz, one of the early pioners (sic) of the city and who for
nearly half a century conducted a blacksmith shop on Franklin street,
now in charge of his son Frank, died yesterday after a lingering illness
of more than a year, death being calm and peaceful. Mr. Leverenz was 90
years of age.
Coming to Manitowoc in youth, Mr. Leverenz was one of the oldest settlers
here and for more than sixty years had made his residence in the city.
Up to a few years ago, Mr. Leverenz continued his business and was then
forced by ill health to retire. Mrs. Leverenz died eight years ago.
Surviving Mr. Leverenz are five children, Mrs. R. Schenk, Milwaukee, Mrs.
Hubert Falge, Mrs. Max Stauss, this city, William of California and Frank
of this city.
Funeral services for Mr. Leverenz will be held Friday afternoon from the
late home, under auspices of Manitowoc lodge, I.O.O.F., of which he had
been a member for many years.
