ESTHER (WEYER) MAHNKE (d. 2003)

Mrs. Esther Weyer Mahnke, age 92, of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, formerly of 1822 S. 10th St., Manitowoc, passed away Sunday morning, Oct. 26, 2003 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003 at First Reformed United Church of Christ, 3613 Waldo Blvd., Manitowoc, with the Rev. Richard Runge officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc. Esther was born March 25, 1911 in the town of Newton, Manitowoc County. She was the daughter of the late Otto and Anna Detjen Weyer Sr. Esther attended Lincoln High School and graduated with the class of 1928. She was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ. Esther is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Ralph and Rose Ann Mahnke, Wisconsin Rapids; two daughters and sons-in-law: Barbara and William Richter, Manitowoc; Diane and John Marquardt, Anchorage, Alaska; one sister and brother-in-law: Nora and Emmeth Luebke, Pittsford, N.Y.; one sister-in-law: Leila Weyer, Beaver Dam; friend: Gloria Mahnke, Wisconsin Rapids; 10 grandchildren: Monica Hamm, Greg Mahnke, Andrea Mahnke, Gordon Mahnke, Jennifer Hansen, Jay Marquardt, Donna Smith, Denise Kadow, Debra Smith, Doreen Gabriel; seven great-grandchildren: Rebecca Hamm, Lucas Hamm, Phillip Hamm, Tabitha Kadow, Calvin Smith, Gavin Smith, Markus Mahnke; one great-great-grandson: Kole Seifert; nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends surviving. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Otto Weyer Jr. and Harold Weyer; two grandsons: Daniel and David Kadow; and one sister-in-law: Sylvia Weyer Olm. Friends may call at First Reformed United Church of Christ on Tuesday from noon until the time of services at 1:30 p.m. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 628 N. Water St., Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and caregivers on 4th floor at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center for how well Esther was treated and cared for.
