Inez R. Matejovetz, age 79, of 1609 Orchard Drive, Manitowoc, died Tuesday,
October 28, 1997, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 31, 1997, at First
Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Rev. Steven D. Olson will officiate with burial in
Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Inez was born June 21, 1918, in the town of Liberty, Wis., daughter of the late
Elmer and Irene Rusch Evenson. She was a graduate of Valders High School with
the class of 1935. She continued her education at Norwegian American Hospital
Nurses Training School and graduated in 1939 as a Registered Nurse. Inez was a
World War II veteran serving with the WACS from July 1942 to January of 1946.
During that time she was stationed overseas in England and France for a period
of 20 months. She married Lester Matejovetz on December 14, 1946, at Gjerpen
Lutheran Church, Valders. She retired from the Manitowoc County Public Health
Department in 1982. She was a member of First Lutheran Chruch and a past member
of Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Lester; two children, Jill Hamilton, Plover, Jon
Matejovetz, Virginia; grandchildren include Jenna and Jamie; four sisters, Beverly
(Bob) Schwister, Green Lake, Violet Burns, Marian Haupt, and Salome Haupt, all of
Manitowoc. Also other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death (sic)
parents and one sister, Clarabelle Kinzel.
Friends may call at First Lutheran Church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of
service at 10:30 a.m.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc, assisted the family with funeral
arrangements.
