Walter Matte, 84, of 930 S. 26th St., Manitowoc, died Tuesday morning, July 2,
1991 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 5, at 12 p.m. at Pfeffer Funeral Home,
Manitowoc. Officiating the service will be Rev. Stephen Schuette with burial in
the Evergreen Cemetery.
He was born June 9, 1907, in Marathon County, Wis., son of the late Joseph and
Emma Pietscher Matte. He married the former Gladys Pacer, June 1, 1929, in Antigo,
Wis. The couple has been lifelong Manitowoc residents and he was employed with
the Mirro Corporation for 48 years until his retirement in 1972.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Matte of Manitowoc; nieces; nephews; other
relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Fred, Herbert,
Clarence, Joseph Jr. and Louis; four sisters, Agnes Dryll, Lucille Bashaw,
Florence Wallen and Eleanor Albert.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time
of service. There will be no Thursday evening visitation.
