Mrs. John E. McDonnell, 75, of 435 N. Seventh St., Manitowoc, died Saturday
morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral
Home and at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev.
Claude LeClair will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery,
Manitowoc.
Mr. McDonnell, the former Ida Backhausen, was born March 7, 1892, in the Town
of Brillion, Calumet County, daughter of the late Peter and Anna Held Backhausen.
She was married to Mr. McDonnell June 6, 1911, and the couple marked its 55th
wedding anniversary in 1966. The couple farmed in the Town of Brillion until
1918, moving to Manitowoc. She was a member of the Rosary Society of Sacred Heart
church.
Survivors are the husband, six sons, Pat, Arnold, Earl, Harold and Jim of Manitowoc
and Kenneth, of Wisconsin Dells, a daughter, Mrs. Earl Lettenberger, of Manitowoc,
a brother, William, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Heinzen, of Kaukauna, 11 grandchildren
and a great grandchild. A son, three brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday where at 8 p.m. the
Rosary will be recited.
