MEANY RITES ARE PLANNED
Services For Former Board Member To Be Wednesday
Funeral services for Thomas H. Meany, 79, retired Reedsville business man and
veteran county board member, who died here Monday afternoon, will be held
Wednesday. Following brief services at the Pfeffer funeral home at 8:30 a.m.,
there will be a 9 o’clock mass at the Sacred Heart church with Rev. William
Grace officiating.
Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Born in Ohio
Mr. Meany was born in Stubenville, O., April 9, 1857, a son of Mr. and Mrs.
John Meany. He came west with his parents in 1866, the family locating on a
farm in the western part of the county. He learned telegraphy and was employed
as station agent for the old Lake Shore and Milwaukee road at Marion, Wis.,
and also at Reedsville.
When Mr. Meany retired from railroad service he engaged in the real estate and
insurance business at Reedsville. He was elected to the county board in Reedville
in 1906 and served seven terms. In 1926 he was again returned to the board and
served until a year ago when he declined to allow use of his name for another
term.
Mr. Meany has been in failing health since last February.
He was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors are two brothers, Dr. J. E. Meany, city, James Meany, Kohler, Wis.,
and a sister, Miss Cecile Meany, city.
The body may be viewed at the Pfeffer funeral home.
