The passing of another Manitowoc pioneer came yesterday with the death of
Joachim Roxien who had been a resident of the city for 48 years. Funeral
services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the home of a daughter, Mrs.
Sophia Braasch, 1401 South Tenth street, conducted by Rev. Paul Schoppe.
Mr. Roxien was born in Mechlenburg-Schwerin, Germany, seventy-nine years
ago, coming to this county fifty-three years ago and to the city four years
later. He is survived by three children, William Roxien, Mrs. Hugo Chakoski
and Mrs. Braasch.
