WILLIAM ROXIEN

William Roxien, 80, retired ship yard foreman, died Thursday night at the home
of his siter, Mrs. Hugo Chakowski, at Grand Rapids, Mich., where he has been
making his home.
The body has been brought to Manitowoc and funeral services will be held at 2
p.m. Monday at the Pfeffer funeral home, the Rev. Carl Hagen officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. Roxien was born in Germany in 1865, and when a child accompanied his parents
to Wisconsin. He married Miss Emma Gruetzmacher here in 1888 and the couple
observed their golden wedding in 1938. Mr. Roxien was a carpenter and foreman
at the Manitowoc Ship Building company for 44 years before retiring several
years ago. Mrs. Roxien died in 1941.
Survivors are the sister, Mrs. Chakowski, a niece and four nephews.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Sunday until the hour
of the services.
