WILLIAM P. SIMMER (d. 1944)

William P. Simmer, 56?, of 426 North 10th street, shipyard foreman, died
suddenly of a heart attack Saturday evening as he sat at a table playing
cards with his wife.
Mr. Simmer had not been ill and was at his work in the yards throughout the
week.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Wattawa, Urbanek
and Schlei funeral home, the Rev. C. H. Phipps of the First Presbyterian
church officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. Simmer was born in Manitowoc Rapids in 1887 and when a young man came
to this city. In 1915 he married Miss Lillian Svacina. He was employed at
the Manitowoc Ship Building company for 30 years and in recent years has
been a foreman in the plate shop. He was a member of the Eagles and the AFL
union at the yards.
Survivors are his wife; a son, Fireman, first class, William John Simmer,
in the U.S. Navy at Norfolk, Va.; three sisters, Mrs. John Nuhs, Mrs. Kate
Kugler and Mrs. Mathilda VanZon, all of this city.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home until the hour of the services.

Simmers-Svacina Marriage
Miss Lillian Svacina and Mr. William Simmers were united in wedlock last Thursday.
The ceremony was performed at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Victoria Svacina,
by Judge Chloupek. This is the second marriage in the family within two weeks, the
bride's sister, Florence having married Roland Handl. Mr. and Mrs. Simmers are
spending their honeymoon in Chicago.
