KURT C. STECKMESSER

Kurt C. Stechmesser (sic), 83, of 1433 N. Sixth St., Manitowoc, died
unexpectedly Friday afternoon at his home.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the First German Evangelical
Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Norval Kock will officiate and burial
will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Stechmesser was born July 24, 1892, in Two Rivers, son of the late Herman
and Francheska Stechmesser. He was educated in the Two Rivers public schools.
He married Anita E. Koenig July, 1919 at the First German Evangelical Lutheran
Church. He was employed by the City of Manitowoc, Department of Public Works,
until his retirement in 1962. He was a member of the First German Evangelical
Lutheran Church, honorary member of the Manitowoc Musicians Association Local
195, Teamsters Union 619, and a life member of the Manitowoc Marine Band. He
played with the Legion Band, the former First German Evangelical Lutheran
Church Orchestra and various other orchestras.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Shirley, of Manitowoc,
Roy and Mary Ruth, of Huntsville, Ala., Paul and Darlene, of Manitowoc, a son-
in-law and daughter, Glenn and Lorraine Gravey, of Oconto, Wis., a brother,
Herbert of Manitowoc, a sister, Mrs. Camille Schmidt, of Fullerton, Calif.,
and 10 grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death on April 5, 1964. Five
brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 5 to
9 p.m. on Sunday and at the church on Monday from noon till time of services.
Memorials may be made to the First German Evangelical Lutheran Church building
fund.
