Elizabeth "Betty" T. Strouf, age 95, a Manitowoc resident, died Monday morning, January 31, 2011, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center in Manitowoc.
Betty was born on July 15, 1915, at Mishicot, daughter of the late Grover and Nora (Stueck) Kadow. She grew up in Mishicot and graduated from Mishicot High School with the class of 1933. On August 24, 1940, she married Raymond J. Strouf at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mishicot. The couple celebrated 64 years together and Raymond preceded her in death on December 28, 2004. Betty was employed at the Manitowoc Equipment Works prior to her retirement in 1977. She was one of the last three surviving charter members of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church. In the past, Betty sang in the church choir. She enjoyed golfing, dancing, and traveling throughout the United States and the world and most of all she enjoyed her family.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law: Kenneth (Valerie) Strouf, Manitowoc; one daughter and son-in-law: Jane (Dean) Eisner, Ann Arbor, MI; two grandchildren: Amy (Nate) Majewski, Warrington, PN; Todd Eisner, Brooklyn, NY; two great-grandchildren: Madeline and Anna Majewski; two sisters-in-law: Carole Kadow, Manitowoc; Myrtle Strouf, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded death by her parents: Grover and Nora Kadow; her husband, Raymond Strouf; one son: John Strouf; two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 4, 2011, at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc. The Revs. Robert Kujawski and Stephen Melso will officiate with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Memorials to Bethany Evangelical Church, Manitowoc Lutheran High School, or the donor's choice would be appreciated.
