JOHN G. SWOKOWSKI

John G. Swokowski, 43, Seventh ward tavern operator, died suddenly of a heart
attack this morning at his home, 1031 South 20th street. He arose as usual to
go to his tavern at 2016 Marshall street when he was stricken. He died before
the arrival of a physician.
Funeral plans will be announced tomorrow.
Mr. Swokowski was born in this city and always resided here. Twenty-four years
ago he married Miss Sophia Mrotek of this city. When a young man he was employed
as a mason. Later he entered the tavern business. He operated the Hill Top
tavern several years and since 1930 had been at his present location.
Survivors are the widow; two sons, John Jr., of Superior, Earl of this city;
three brothers, Frank, William and George of this city; four sisters, Mrs.
Walter Drill, Mrs. Jacob Budnik, Mrs. John Johnsrud and Mrs. Omar Gauthier
of this city.
