Mrs. Norman Thompson, 87, who resided with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. William Jacobs, of 1024A New York Ave., Manitowoc, died Tuesday
afternoon at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. John United Church of
Christ, Manitowoc. The Rev. Paul Blaufuss will officiate and burial will be in
the Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Thompson, nee Helen Flentje, was born Oct. 20, 1883, in the Town of Two
Rivers, daughter of the late Charles and Wilhelmina Kasch Flentje.
She was married to Norman Thompson Oct. 31, 1906, at Manitowoc, where they
always resided. Her husband preceded her in death in 1959. Mrs. Thompson was a
member of the Womens Guild of the church.
Survivors include three sons, Clarence of Manitowoc, George of Oconto and Earl
of Frankfort, Ind.; four daughters, Mrs. William (Helen) Jacobs and Mrs. John
(Marian) Landon of Manitowoc, Mrs. Andrew (Grace) Babich of Minneapolis, Minn.,
and Mrs. Allen Gospodarek of Jamestown, N.D.; two sisters, Mrs. Wencel Blahnik
of Manitowoc and Mrs. Martha Stockmeyer of Chicago; 29 grandchildren and 17
great grandchildren. Five brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
Friends may call at the Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc (State Street
entrance), after 4 p.m. Thursday until noon Friday and then at the church until
the time of services.
