Nunzio was born in Italy on Sep 16, 1905. His father was John Mangin (1875 - 1948), and his mother was Concetta DeVincentis Mangin (1877 - 1959). In 1911 Nunzio's parents brought him and his sister, Stella, to the United States, settling in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Nunzio married Louise Kaiser (1902 - 1986). They lived on the 1100 block of West 21st Street, one block away from the house on the 1000 block of 21st Street that Nunzio had been raised as a boy. He and Louise had no children.

Nunzio died Aug 21, 1975. In addition to his wife Louise, he was survived by four sisters, one brother, and many nieces and nephews. They affectionately called him, "Uncle Nen."

The family headstone in Calvary Cemetery, where he is buried, bears the surname that his parents had when they first entered the United States: Mangini.
