THE PASSING OF A PIONEER

JAMES CHAUZA,SR. DIES AT HIS HOME NEAR MUNDEN, KANSAS

James Chauza,Sr. was born in Tabor, Bohemia and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Hubka, at Munden, Kansas, Dec. 8, 1923 at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 28 days. He was married to Miss Katherina Bily at Vienna, Austria in 1874. Seven children were born to this union, five sons and two daughters. Four sons died in infancy. In 1889, Mr. Chauza, with his family to this countryand settled near Table Rock, Nebraska where he resided until 1901, when they moved to the farm south west of DuBois, Nebraska.

His wife died there November 14, 1901. In the fall of 1913 he moved to his daughter's home at Munden, Kansas where he died. He leaves one son and two daughters to mourn his death. James Chauza,Jr. and Mrs. Fannie Macha of DuBois and Mrs. Anna Hubka of Munden, Kansas. Eight grandchildren, all of which have the sympathy of the entire community. The body was brought to DuBois where the funeral was held in the United Brethren Church Sunday afternoon at 3:30 PM. Miss Mamie Young having charge of the services. The body was laid to rest in the DuBois Cemetery.
