His obituary was published in the 4/7/1959 Charlotte Observer: Charles Davis Campbell, 64, of 3601 Alabama Ave., died suddenly Monday, April 6, 1959. Mr. Campbell, son of the late Henry and Charlotte Drum Campbell, was born Aug. 23, 1894 in Maiden, NC. He was a member of the Board of Stewards, Superintendent of the Sunday School (for 30 years) and a member of the Chadwick Methodist Church. Mr. Campbell was in the grocery business for 33 years. For the past 20 years, he operated his own store at 1011 Beatty's Ford Road. Survivors included his wife, the former Miss Fannie Cooper; a son, Paul M. Campbell; two daughters, Mrs. Henry T. Mozeley and Mrs. Will E. Buchanan all of Charlotte; two brothers, John Campbell of Knoxville, Tenn., Jim Campbell of Charlotte; four sisters; Mrs. Marshall Hipp, Mrs. Kelly Beatty, Mrs. Tom Curtis, Mrs. Giles Boysworth all of Charlotte and two grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 4:30 o'clock this afternoon from the Miller and Kerns Hawthorne Chapel. The Rev. Fred R. Love, his pastor, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. A.G. Lackey, former pastor. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
