Death Relieved Her Suffering
Mrs. George Weber, one of Pontiac township's oldest citizens, died at her home Friday afternoon, April 17, after a lingering illness of eight weeks of inflammatory rheumatism.
Although she suffered a great deal, she was conscious to the last and recognized all members of her family and friends, Her maiden name was Hoerner. She was born in Wurtenburg Walhousen, Germany, September 15, 1826, and came to this country in 1847. The same year, she was married to George Weber in Utica, New York, and resided there until 1856, when they moved to Woodland county, Illinois. In 1869 they moved to Pike Township and from there to Pontiac township, where they lived until her death. For 47 years she was a member of the German Evangelical church. She was the mother of ten children, four of whom are dead, and the surviving ones, Leonard and William of Pike township; Lucy, wife of John Schickedanz, and John, of Rooks Creek township; George and Frank, of Pontiac township. A husband and six children and twenty-six grand children are left to mourn her death.
The funeral services were held Sunday at the M. E. church at Rooks Creek and burial took place at the Rooks Creek cemetery. The brethren officiating were Rev. Beverly, in German, and Rev. H. J. Shaffer, in English.
