Burdette Hubbell

Burdette Hubbell, who was struck by a car and fatally injured near his home in the village of Middlefield early Sunday morning, June 21st, passed away at the Bassett Hospital, Thursday afternoon. An operation was performed Wednesday in a last effort to save his life but proved unavailing and he passed away without regaining consciousness. He was the son of Noah and Alvira(Jones) Hubbell and was born onthe Jones Homestead farm in Hubbell Hollow, October 13th, 1875. After his marriage to Miss Beulah Roberts, which occurred December 3rd, 1898, he moved to a farm at Sidney Center where he remained for thirteen years when he returned to the farm in Hubbell Hollow. Owing to the ill health of his wife, he moved from the farm to the village of Middlefield about six years ago where he has since resided. Mr. Hubbell was possessed of a genial disposition, was honest and industrious and his untimely death is deeply deplored by a host of friends.
He is survived by his wife, a son, Burdette, who resides at home; a daughter, Mrs. Harry Crandall of Oneonta; two grandchildren,
a niece, Mrs. Walter Craig, of Gilbertsville, and a nephew, Carlton Roberts of Hartwick.
The funeral services were held at his late home, Saturday afternoon, the Rev. Walter Craig of Gilbertsville officiated, assisted by the Rev. Benjamin Ridgley, pastor of the Middlefield M. E. Church. The house was filled with relatives, neighbors and friends
and the profusion of flowers attested the esteem for the deceased and the deep sympathy for the family in their sorrow.
