Doak E. Edgell, 84, of Fairmont, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday (Feb. 16, 2012) at Ruby Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family members.

He was born April 1, 1927, in Fairmont, son of the late Ray and Lucy Cain Edgell.

He was a graduate of Monongah High School, a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII and was formerly employed as an electrician for Westinghouse. He was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church in Fairmont. Doak belonged to the Marion County Senior Citizens and sang in the Senior Choir. He was an avid sports fan, a bowler for many years and loved to travel. Due to his April 1 birthday, he loved to play practical jokes and had a witty sense of humor.

Doak is survived by three children, Pamela Marocco and husband David of Grapevine, Texas, Dennis Edgell and wife Lois of Morgantown, and Darlene Ford and husband Patrick of Waynesburg, Pa.; a brother, Okey Edgell and wife Arlene of Fairmont; two sisters, Lillieray "Pickle" Hall of Clarksburg and Jan Lane of Michigan; grandchildren, Matthew Marocco and wife Rachel, Mark Marocco, Lena Paulauskas and husband Lance, Shawn Hugus and wife Missey, Keri Rutherford and husband Duane, Jaime Backman and husband Forrest, Jeremy Edgell and wife Brandi, Jamie Edgell, Stephanie Hughes and husband Marshal, and Aaron Ford; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Gunner and Bria Edgell, Brooke Loane, Nathaniel, Debbie and Ethan Paulauskas, Owen Hughes, Colton, Kiersten and Kylynn Marvin, Tiffany and Trisha Rutherford, Derek Coss and Emmie Backman; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Wimer Edgell; two sons, Steven and Gary Edgell; a brother, Jim Edgell; and two grandsons, Stephen Marocco and Erin Ford.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave., in Fairmont, from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, in the funeral home with Pastor Richard Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont, with full military rights being performed at graveside by the Marion County Veteran's Council.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Marion County Veteran's Council, P.O. Box 2155, Fairmont, WV 26555-2155.
