William Dougald Campbell, was born in Craigleith, Collingwood, Ontario around 1849. His parents were Ann (Keith) Campbell (born in Scotland around 1805) & Dougald Campbell (Born in Scotland around 1806 and died in Collingwood, Ontario in 1889).

Wm Dougald Campbell (1849-1905) married Alice Osborne on 14 Feb 1894 @ Thessalon, ON. He listed his parent's as Dougal & Ann Campbell. Wm Dougald & Alice had 6 (maybe 7) children:.

1. Charles Thomas Campbell (1895-1900ish);

2. William George Nelson Campbell (1896-1953);

3. Leonard?????

4. Margret Ann J Campbell (1899-1990);

5. Mary Alice Campbell (1901-1983);

6. Colin Archie Dougald Campbell (1903-1983)

7. Florence Catherine Campbell (1905-1980).

William Dougald appears to have misrepresented his age on the 1894 marriage license (age 32) when in fact he would have been 45 at the time. (Alice Osborne was 18 when they married) In 1927, 22 years after her birth, on Wm Dougald & Alice's youngest child's (Florence) birth registry Alice indicates Wm Dougald was 56 when he died in 1905. 1905 minus 56 = 1849. All the census records I have found show this to be the approx year of birth of Dougald & Ann Campbell's youngest son Dougald.

William Dougald Campbell homesteaded in Saskatchewan in 1904 and broke 8 acres that year none of the land was cropped. He returned to Ontario and the family moved to Saskatchewan in early 1905. He died shortly thereafter. Youngest daughter, Florence, was born in Balgonie, SK (east of Regina) on Feb 13, 1905 and William Dougald died April 10, 1905. According to Alice Olson her grandmother, Alice (Osborne) Campbell/ Armstrong/Lightle/Bradley, told her William Dougald died when his appendix ruptured. Alice Olson was raised by her grandmother and is in the best position to know the cause of his death.

Florence (Campbell) Walker, the adopted daughter/ foster child of Thomas & Elizabeth (Brooks) Stephens, was the sixth or seventh child of William Dougald Campbell & Alice Osborne. Florence is shown on the 1911 Census as a second cousin of Thomas Stephens Jr. and on the 1921 Census as an adopted daughter. On her Sept 15 1928 border crossing document she lists Thomas Stephens as her Foster Father.

Thomas Stephen's Jr was the son of Thomas & Flora (Campbell) Stephens. Flora (Campbell) Stephens and William Dougald Campbell were siblings.
