Mrs. Estella Butcher was born August 18, 1877 in Murphysboro, the daughter of Hugh and Alize Rolens Broom. Her surviving siblings were Alpha Rolens of Murphysboro and Dr. M. E. Rolens of Springfield. Seven brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
She married Alpha butcher in 1899; he died in 1941. She left children, Mrs. Ilean Gardner and Waldo Butcher of Murphysboro. She was preceded in death by a son and a daughter.
Mrs. Butcher was a lifelong Murphysboro resident. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Murphysboro.
She died at the age of 86 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ilean Gardner after a long illness. His funeral service was held at First Baptist Church. Rev. Harry R. Chasteen officiated. Meyer-Denny Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
