Reuben Ryle was an executive at the American Shell Works in Paterson but was lost in the 1918 influenza pandemic at the age of 28. He was an ardent automobile enthusiast in the early days of their production and owned a small fleet of vehicles, including several Model T Fords and even a Packard.
Reuben Ryle and his wife, Edith, were buried in the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa, New Jersey but their names were memorialized on one of the ledger stones in the Ryle family plot in Cedar Lawn Cemetery.
