CARTERET - Valentine D'Zurilla, 76 Fitch Street, Carteret, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ann Gregor, 74 Fitch Street, on Friday evening March 4, after a long illness.

Born in Czechoslovakia, he was a resident of Cartrret for 67 years. He was one of the organizers of the Sacred Heart Church and a member of its Holy Name Society. He was one of the organizers and a charter member of the First Catholic Slovak Men's Union, Branch 324 and also the First Catholic Ladies Union, Branch 184.

He had been employed as a fireman by the Foster Wheeler Corp. Carteret for 40 years, having been retired in 1938.

His wife, the late Mary Orlovsky D'Zurilla, died April 8, 1953.

He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Mary Kozusko of Sewaren, Mrs. Catherine Makoski, and Mrs. Ann Gregor, both of Carteret; two sons, Fire Marshall William D'Zurilla and Councilman John E. D'Zurilla, both of Carteret; two sisters, Mrs. James Dutko of Schenectady, N. Y., and Mrs. Elizabeth Ondrus, of Czechoslovakia; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services took place from the Bizub Funeral Home, 54 Wheeler Avenue, Tuesday morning, March 8 at 8:30 A.M., followed by a solemn high Mass of requiem celebrated at the Sacred Heart R. C. Church at 9 A. M. with Rev. Andrew A. Okal as celebrant assisted by Rev. Aloysius Boland O.S.M., as deacon and Rev. George Ardos, aa sub-deacon. Interment
was in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Hopelawn.

The honorary bearers were John Capik, Sr., Stephen Ondrejcak, Sr., Valentine Ondrejcak, John Brechka Sr., John
Shaner Jr., and Andrew Sivon Jr.
