Joseph Dimarco, 91, a long time Cuyahoga Falls resident, passed away May 10, 2011.

Mr. Dimarco was born in Akron and served in World War II with the 37th Army Infantry Division in the Southwest Pacific Theater, and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He retired from the Akron Public School System with over 30 years of service as a custodian. Joe was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. He will be remembered as an air show and model train enthusiast. His greatest love was his grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna; his beloved wife, Rose Marie, to whom he was married 35 years and who passed away in 1999, he was also preceded by sisters, Agnes (Ray) McCourtney and Nancy (Francis) Shimp. He will be sadly missed by sister, Lily (Will) Doering; son, Michael; daughter, Lisa (Bruce) Kirchenbauer; grandchildren, Jennie and Joey Kirchenbauer; and his dog Max.

Calling hours Thursday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the Ciriello and Carr Cuyahoga Falls Chapel (810 Portage Tr.). Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, followed by interment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens, where Firestone V.F.W. Post 3383 will conduct military services. The family suggests memorials to the American Lung Association.
