John Wehrend Dead.
John Wehrend, 70, retired farmer, died Wednesday at 4:30 a.m. at the family residence, 434 Seventh avenue, after a brief illness. Born Nov. 12, 1868, at Jordan's Grove, the son of James and Barbara Dichtelmiller [sic] Wehrend, he was married in 1903 at Des Moines to Grave Sehmann. Prior to his retirement four years ago when he moved to his present home, he lived on a farm a half mile south of Alburnett. Mr. Wehrend was a member of the Alburnett Evangelical church. In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Grace Tiedemann of Luzerne and Miss Virginia Margaret Wehrend, at home. He also leaves a grandson, Elmer John Tiedemann of Luzerne and three sisters, Mrs. Ollie Rocho of Boone and the Misses Lena and Anna Wehrend of Marion. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Alburnett Evangelical church in charge of the Rev. C.L. Fuller of Alburnett, assisted by the Rev. E.R. McClelland of Blairstown. Burial will be in the Lafayette cemetery. Friends may call at the Yocom chapel Wednesday and Thursday evening, and at the family home Friday evening.
