Mr. and Mrs. Reese T. Ponting, Bradford street, city, announce the marriage of their daughter, Harriet Ellen, to Private Edgar Griffiths, son of Mrs. Lillian Griffiths, Logan street.
The marriage took place on June 9, 1942, in the parsonage of the Parrish Street Methodist Church. Rev. Charles E. Carroll officiated. Attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ed linger of Ken more, New York.
Mrs. Griffiths is a graduate of the G. A. R. High School. Private Griffiths is a graduate of Cochin High School. Before entering the service Private Griffiths was associated with the American Stores Company. He is station at Camp Butner, North Carolina.

Harriet Ponting Griffiths, 78, of the Heights section of Wilkes-Barre, died Sunday at Hospice Care of the VNA Inpatient Unit, Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre.
Born Sept. 21, 1922, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Reese and Hannah Nagle Ponting.
She was a 1941 graduate of GAR High School and won the title of Mrs. Wyoming Valley in 1953. She was a professional seamstress in the Valley.
She was a member of the First Welsh Presbyterian Church, Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Griffiths, a former Wilkes-Barre police officer; and sister, Margaret Smith.
Surviving are her children, Dr. Gilbert R. Griffiths, Dallas; Ruth Ann Pintchuck, Plymouth; and Thomas A. Griffiths, Eden Prairie, Minn.; four grandchildren; sister, Ruth Snyder, Temple Terrace, Fla.; twin brother, Harry Ponting, Greenbackville, Va.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the Straub Kane Funeral Home, 55 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. George Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Mount Greenwood Cemetery, Trucksville, Kingston Township. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial donations may be made to the First Welsh Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, corner of South Meade and Northampton streets, Wilkes-Barre, 18702.
