Orlando WHEELOCK, 77, Elk Point, died Friday at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.
He was born 15 Apr. 1895, in Sioux City. He married Loretta LIMOGES on 16 Nov. 1916, & they farmed in the Elk Point area until 1928 when he joined the Union County Highway Department from which he retired in 1960.
He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elk Point.
Survivors include the widow; 6 sons, Edgar of Redondo Beach, Calif., Willis & Howard of Kentland, Ind., Arlen of Vermillion, S.D., & Gilbert & Ronald of Sioux City; 5 daughters, Patricia MCCARTY of Kentland, Ind., Mrs. Gloria JOHNSON of Elk Creek, Wisc., Mrs. Elayne REITZ of Elk Point, Mrs. Shirley CUNNINGHAM of Sioux City & Vicky, at home; 2 brothers, Allen of Princeton, Ill., & Lloyd of Sioux City; 2 sisters, Mrs. Genevieve SUMMY of Custer, S.D. & Mrs. Lucille SATTERLEE of Renton, Wash.; 32 grandchildren & great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elk Point. The Rev. John Reuland will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Anderson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers, all grandsons will be Dennis Reitz & Randy, Patrick, Douglas, Richard & Scott Wheelock.
The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Anderson Funeral Home in Elk Point.
