Fire Boss at the Dorrance Met Frightful Death Last Night.
John Haas, fire boss at the Dorrance colliery of the Lehigh Valley Coal Co. was instantly killed shortly after 6 o'clock last evening by being run over by a trip of runaways.
Haas was standing at the foot of the slope when the trip of cars broke away and before he saw his danger or could get out of the way the flying mass struck him and caused instant death.
His parents and relatives are residents of Plymouth, but Haas boarded on North Pennsylvania avenue, where, his body has been taken. His death is made particularly sad from the fact that about a year ago his wife died leaving three little children motherless and now the death of the father leaves them orphans.
