3-31-1892 - The sad death of Mrs. Catharine Vowinckel Arnold, beloved wife of Charles W. Arnold and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Vowinckel, which occurred at 4 o’clock on last Monday morning at the residence of her husband on Fifth Avenue, has caused profound sorrow in many homes and hearts, for the deceased was greatly beloved by all who knew her. Besides her heartbroken husband, father, mother and other near relatives she leaves a babe but a few days old.
The funeral took place this Thursday forenoon from the M.E. Church and was conducted by her former pastor, Rev. Cering Peters of DuBois. To the sorrowing ones is extended the condolence of all.

4-7-1892 - Mrs. Katherine V. Arnold, eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Vowinckel, was born at Johnstown, Cambria County, Pa., Sept. 3rd, 1871, died at her home in Clarion, Clarion county, Pa., Mar. 29th, 1892. On August 11th, 1889,
under the ministry of Rev. C. Peters, she united on probation in the Clarion M. E. church and six months later she was, by the same pastor, received into full
membership. Her Christian life was most exemplary, a member of the choir, the Epworth League, and a faithful worker in the Sabbath school, an ardent lover of the Word, loyal to the church and a constant attendant upon the church services. In all of these she will be greatly missed.

Amid happy and helpful influences, childhood and youth flitted by and then came a marriage which brought delightful days of home life to her. On July 1st, 1892, by the same pastor, in the same church, under the blaze of chandeliers, in the midst of flowers and surrounded by many friends, she was married to the man she loved, Mr. Charles W. Arnold.

She was of most happy disposition, full of sunshine and as innocent and trustful as a little child; charitable to all, kind to all, loved by all, and will be missed and mourned by all. She leaves a kind and indulgent husband, a father and mother, a little baby girl, three brothers, one sister and a large circle of friends to mourn the loss of one so dear. “She is dead; no sleep so beautiful and calm, so free from trace of pain, so fair to look upon; she seemed a creature fresh from the hand of God and waiting for the breath of life; not one who had lived and suffered death.” On the 31st of March, Rev. C. Peters, her former pastor, preached her funeral sermon from Jeremiah 15th chap., 9th
verse, “Her sun is gone down while it is yet day.” During the delivery of the sermon, there reigned the stillness of death, broken only by the sobbing of her many friends. Her remains were followed to the cemetery, where they were
tenderly laid to rest. (poem)
