Amelia Gabriel was born September 11, 1888, in Polk county, Nebraska, where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to Schuyler Berger, June 20, 1906, at Shelby, Neb. To them were born six children. A son, Clarence E., died at the age of one month. Those surviving are four sons, Glenn C. of San Francisco, Robert L. of Denver, Donald D. of Los Angeles and Howard S. of Scottsbluff and one daughter, Mrs. Mildred Pelkey of Omaha.
In 1914 Mr. Berger resigned his position as rural mail carrier at Shelby and the family moved onto a farm in Chelsea township, Fillmore county. Mr. Berger died in September, 1929, and the next spring the family moved into Geneva, which continued to be Mrs. Berger's home. All of the children are graduates of Geneva high school.
Mrs. Berger was a member of the Geneva Congregational church, in which she was an active worker. She was also a member of the Merry Mixer Kensington. She was one who devoted her life to her children.
Besides her children, she is survived by two brothers, Joe Gabriel of Fullerton and John Gabriel of Osceola, a sister, Mary Emmel of Omaha and several grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Tuesday, April 6, at the Geneva congregational church. Rev. L. E. Werner officiated. All of the children were here for the services. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
