Katherine Houghton Dies
Miss Katherine Houghton died Friday morning, May 12, at the Cameron Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She was 84 years old. Miss Houghton was the only child of James and Amy Hall Houghton. She lived the early part of her life in the New York Settlement community, southeast of Hamilton. In 1916 the family moved to Hamilton where she spent the rest of her life.
She was a member of the Hamilton Federated Church, Chapter N, PEO and Major Molly DAR. She was a graduate of Kidder Institute.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the Bram Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Peters conducting and burial was in New York Settlement Cemetery.
Those attending the service from a distance were Mrms. Harold McCollough and daughter, Ethel, and Mrs. Ethel Houghton, Kansas City; Mrs. Elizabeth Brady and son, Richard, Hickman Mills; Mrms. Arthur Vermillion, Wichita, Kansas; Mrs. Katherine Christensen, Minneapolis, Minnesota; Mrs. James Kautz and Mrms. H.B. Payne of Mission, Kansas.
