From the newspaper obituary (unknown source) for William A. Eshelman (dated 1929 and found in the Sheffield, IL historical society clipping file) we learn some more information about William A. and Clara B. Eshelman:

"William Eshelman, aged 76 years and for the past thirty years a resident of this community, passed away last Thursday, August 15, at the St. Francis Hospital in Kewanee, where he had been taken following a severe attack of influenza. He was born in Gettysburg, Pa., March 8, 1853.

In 1877 Mr. Eshelman was united in marriage to Miss Clara Beard, of Gettysburg, and to this union nine children were born, eight of whom survive, as follows: Mrs. Cora Hand and Mrs. Margie Hand of Sheffield, Mrs. Virginia Peterson of Kewanee, Norman, Hiram, James, William and McKinley Eshelman, all of Kewanee. There are also three sisters, Mrs. Elmer Owens Sr. of Sheffield, Mrs. Angie Anderson of Mineral, and Mrs. Mary Alice Watson of McKeesport, Pa.; two brothers, Emory Eshelman of Sparta, Wis., and George Eshelman of Missouri. His wife preceded him in death twenty-six years ago and a daughter, Truza, passed away in 1916.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the M. E. Church, Rev. H. S. Davis in charge, and burial was in the Sheffield Cemetery."
