"In 1886 he resigned his practice in Lowell, Mass. to promote his patent medicines, Moxie Nerve Food, Moxie Catarrh Cure and the New England Cure for Alcoholism. In 1906 the Pure Food and Drug Act was passed and Moxie became a soft drink. The family sold the business during the Depression. In 1967 the Monarch Nugrape Co of Georgia revived the soft drink and still produces it today. "Make Mine Moxie" was the nation's first commercial jingle. (Portland Press Herald)"
