The death of an esteemed resident of this place in the person of Mrs. Ann McArthur, relict of the late Archibald McArthur, who died on Mar. 11th at the age of 87 years. The deceased whose maiden name was Ann Buie was born in Islay Scotland in 1828 and came to Canada with her parents a few years later. In 1858 she was married to Archibald McArthur who predeceased her 11 years ago. For a number of years they lived on Lot 23, Con. 5 Nottawasaga and moved to Stayner in 1902. She was a member of the Disciple Church, joining that body in 1861. Six children are left to mourn a loving and faithful mother. They are Archibald, Angus, John, Mrs. Alex McDermid (Isabelle) all of Nottawasaga, Mrs. Robert Holt (Janet) of Toronto and Mary Ann at home. The funeral took place Monday to Union Cemetery Creemore.
