Our beloved Clifford McDonald was born in McKinney, Texas on December 25, 1942 to Andrew Wilson and Bessie Mae McDonald. He was the second of seven children. Clifford had a strong foundation of faith. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and united in fellowship with Mt. Pilgrim Free Will Baptist Church in McKinney TX. He grew up in Texas but graduated from Alamogordo High School in New Mexico and earned a BS degree from the University of Southern Colorado.
Immediately following high school, Clifford joined the Navy and traveled extensively until his retirement. He began his second career at the United States Postal Service in 1981 and worked there for 29 years until his retirement. Over his two careers he received numerous awards and recognitions for his outstanding performances.
Clifford was a friend to all and if you met him once you would remember him. He was the one that brought life into every room he entered with his giant personality and infectious smile. Clifford was a wise man and was always willing to give sound advice, even when you didn't think you needed it. He never met a stranger and helping those in need made his day as much as it made theirs.
Clifford met the love of his life, Ms. Phyllis Hooks and the two married in 1979.
On Monday, September 10, Clifford passed away doing what he loved to do – helping others. He is preceded in death by his father, Andrew; his mother, Bessie; his grandmother, Allie Kirvin and his brother, Ray McDonald. The celebration of his life continues with his wife of 33 years, Phyllis; son, Anthony; grandson, Solomon; aunt, Virginia Hargraves; uncle, Reverend Roy Walker (Sedalia); brothers: Andrew McDonald, Edward McDonald (Sharon) and Charlie McDonald (Kim); sisters: Kathy Matthews (Eddie), Beverly Cole; adopted brother Waymon Moore; special cousin, Carolyn Silvers; and a host of, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
