Josephine M. Stipe, 85, formerly of W3634 Stipe Court, Sheboygan Falls, died early Monday morning, June 24, 2002, at Meadow View Manor where she had been a resident for the past three months.
Josephine was born on September 19, 1916, in St. Nazianz, the daughter of the late August and Clara (Luellloff) Bennin. She attended St. Charlesburg. On February 10, 1941 she married Harold Stipe in Charlesburg. Josphine and Harold both worked at the shipyards during the war both in Manitowoc and Washington.
Josephine was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish, formerly St. George Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers, the Apostolate of Suffering, and the Legion of Mary. Josephine was also a volunteer at the Sheboygan County Comprehensive Health Care Center. She and her husband were foster parents for numerous children over the years.
Josephine is survived by her husband, Harold, of Meadow View Manor; one daughter, Mary (Charles) Estef of Springfield, Illinois; one son, Delroy (Joan) Stipe of Sheboygan Falls; seven grandchildren including Travis, Holly, Crystal and Amber Stipe; Adam Roethel; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice (Ambrose) Berenz of Fond du Lac; two brothers, Jerome (Vi) Bennin of Shawano, and Gus (Pat) Bennin of Washington; and one brother-in-law Walter Depies of Chilton.
She was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2002 at St. George Catholic Church in the Town of Wilson with the Rev. Eugene Neuman and deacon William Jens officiating. A prayer service will precede at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls on Thursday morning at 9:15 a.m. Burial will follow at St. George Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Wilson.
Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m., and on Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of prayers at 9:15 a.m. A parish vigil service will be held on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
A memorial fund is being established in her name.
