Anthony R. Schleicher

Anthony R. "Tony" Schleicher, age 83, of 2732 county Highway V, Sheboygan Falls, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Sept. 28, 2001 at St. Nicholas Hospital. Tony was born June 15, 1918, in the Town of Sheboygan, the son of the late Frank and Josephine (Weiers) Schleicher. He attended school in Brillion. On May 16, 1942, he married the former Anna Mlakar in Sheboygan. Tony was a lifelong farmer in the a Town of Lima.

He also held various jobs at the Kohler Co., Sheboygan Falls Tannery, Wickes Building , Bemis and Badger Structures. He was an insurance agent for Catholic Family Insurance Co. and the Wilson Mutual Insurance Co.

A longtime member of St George Catholic Church in the Town of Wilson, he served as a trustee, lecture, minister of the Eucharist and was a member of the Holy Name Society. Currently Tony was a charter member and first president of Sheboygan County NFO and was a member of the Serra Club, Sheboygan County Interfaith Organization and the Waldo Senior Citizens.

Tony is survived by his wife, Anna; six daughters, Ann (James) Higgins of Wisconsin Rapids, Kay (Allen) Humphrey, Janice Schleicher, Gail (Daniel) Riemer, all of Sheboygan; Carol (Conrad) Wolf of Elkhart Lake and Marica Schleicher of Sheboygan Falls; five sons, Richard (Sharon)of Sheboygan, Donald (Cindy) of Appleton, Edward (Janice) of Bradley, Ill, James (Pam) and Alvin Schleicher, both of Sheboygan Falls; 29 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Angeline Mallinger of Franklin; and three brothers, Leo (Kathryn), Jerome (Evelyn) and Ralph (Mary Alice) Schleicher, all of rural Sheboygan Falls.
He was preceded in death by one great-grandson and two sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday Oct. 2, 2001 at St. George Catholic Church in the Town of Wilson, with the Rev. Guy Gurath and Deacon William Jens officiating. A 10 a.m. prayer service will be held on Tuesday at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls. Burial will follow at St. George Catholic Church.

Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of prayers at 10 a.m. A parish vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

A memorial fund is being established in his name.
