Mr. and Mrrs. Thomas Curran, 1301 Lincoln Street, Wamac, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary yesterday by renewing their marriage vows at St. Mary's Church yeterday morning at High Mass. Father George Lohman officiated at this service. At noon a wedding dinner was served at the home to 25 guests, among which were Father Lohman and his assistant, Father Hannigan. The afternoon was spent in a social way. Mr. and Mrs. Curran received many beautiful gifts, all of them carrying out the idea of the golden wedding anniversary.

Mr. and Mrs. Curran were married at Patoka and moved to Centralia some time later, having lived here for the past 38 years. Mr. Curran was a Broadway Flagman for 14 years, being pensioned 2 years ago last January. During all that time, he did not have a crossing accident. Before that, he worked on the old Air Line, now known as the Southern. When he was 17 years old, he left St. Louis with a pack train and went to Texas where he was a Pony Express Rider, until he returned to Illinois at the time of his marriage. Mr. Curran was born in Ireland and was brought to this country when two years old.

Mrs. Curran was formerly Miss Ada Berger. She was born in Cincinnati and moved here when a child.

They had nine children, six of whom are living. They are Miss Ada Curran who lives at home; James Curran, Baltimore, Maryland; George Curran, Kansas City, Missouri; Mrs. G.E. Proulx, Kansas City, Missouri; Leo T. Curran of Kansas City and Mrs Fred Busse of St. Louis. There are sixteen grandchildren.

Mr. Curran, who will be 80 years old in a few months and Mrs. Curran who is 70, received many congratulatory messages yesterday in addition to the gifts and beautiful flowers sent to them.
