Mother: Sally Wright, (1784 - ?); married 28 Oct 1803 in Mecklenburg, VA
Siblings: Hamlet Newton (1804-1877); Henry (1805-1879); George W. (1808-1880); Martha (1809-1842)
Lewis Wright served as security on the apprenticeship of George W. Crowder to Richard W. Fox in 1823. Alexander Crowder fled his apprenticeship and a notice appeared in the Putnam Co., Journal in 1824.
"Eloped from the subscriber on the 4th of January last, a boy by the name of Alexander Crowder about 14 years of age. He is of dark complexion, stammers in his speech… It is supposed he was sent away from my employ by Briggs Allums to his mother who was secreted in the neighborhood and carried away by her into Henry County. I will give $5 reward to any person that will bring the said boy to me in Putnam County."
Alexander Crowder was an orphan of George Crowder and Sally Wright, who married in Mecklenburg Co., Va., October 28, 1803. George Crowder is presumed to have died in Virginia, for he does not appear in the Putnam Co., Ga. records. It appears that Sarah (Wright) Crowder married a Mr. Millirons (Millians). Interestingly, Lot 25 in the 6th district, Henry Co., Ga., was sold by Sion Lassiter Hill to Edward Allums, in a deed witnessed by Richard Fox, and then sold by him to his brother, Briggs Allums.
Briggs Allums sold to Sarah Millirons, both of the said Co. (Henry) on Sept. 22, 1827 for the sum of $200, Lot 25, District 6, 202½ acres of land lying on the waters of Cotton River, and this land to Sarah during her lifetime, then to her children: Briggs Allums, George, Alexander, Christopher, Nancy, James, and Leonard. Wit: A. Doss and Wm. P. Newell. Recorded Dec. 12, 1833.
