She was a member of the County Line Baptist Church.
In 1968, she started her passion with Genealogy and went on to Publish three Volumes of Blount censuses and one of early Blount marriage records.
She was a Chapter Regent of the Warrior River Daughters of the American Revolution. She worked for the United States Postal Service for Thirty-Seven years, retired as a Postmaster of Trafford.
Mrs. Askew was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Cato and Vergie [Calvert] Cole; husband, of fifty-seven years, Earl Askew; daughter, Sherry Askew Ledlow; sister, Imogene [Cato] Roberts.
She is survived by her son-in-law, Roger Ledlow; grandchildren, Jason [Tori] Ledlow. and Heather Ledlow; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Caleb Ledlow.
Funeral services will be held on Minday, September 17, 2012, at 11 am.at the County Line Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Cato, Rev. Roy Spears and Tev. David Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 16 from 6 until 8 pm. at Messmer-Goodwin Funeral Home.
