Inscription: "Erected by Capt. R.G. and S. Higgins. In memory of Capt. Isreal Higgins who was lost at sea March 23, 1823. AEt 45 yrs. Also his wife Polly Higgins who died Feb. 26 1818 AEt 36 yrs." There is more text, which can almost be read from the original digital picture.
